Pop-up Anti-War Protest

Donald Trump has started an illegal war, attacking a developing nation to grant control of their oil reserves to his rich friends. A few of our members and supporters (and friends) decided to protest Trump’s invasion of Venzeuala. We put out the call and joined them. It was last minute and a dreary day, but die-hard lovers of freedom showed up.

This one is raw. People don’t know what to do yet. We don’t know what’s going on, fully. Trump’s racism, xenophobia, and general destruction of our economy and democratic values are a daily occurrence at this point. But he hasn’t really done war yet. This will most certainly be a disaster. But we can, if nothing else, add our voices to the sea of dissent.

Protests can be frustrating. We don’t know if we’re making a difference, but we feel we must be heard just the same. Cascade Forward tries to provide a frame for these protests, and keep things organized and safe at them. Even if the government will never care, it gives people a place to vent that frustration so we can carry on the work that matters. This protest will likely be the start of a more concentrated campaign of resistance once we see the full shape of the dictator’s plan.
