Shut Down Food Drive

On November first - today - SNAP benefits run out due to the current government shutdown. They don't have to, but the president - who totally doesn't engage in gross executive overreach - has decided that the poor must suffer for his crusade against...the poor. Thus, up to 15,000 people in Cowlitz County are going to lose benefits they rely on for survival.

So we hosted a food drive. People still came to march but the weather kept numbers down. But the turnout for donations was INCREDIBLE. We collected 2,128 lbs. of food and supplies to distribute to Lower Columbia CAP, Oasis Animal Foundation, and the Rainbow Community. This food drive was one of many others this weekend and more are coming up. It looks like this community has what it takes to survive on its own when government refuses to help.
